When our designer Christie first met these clients, she knew instantly they would be a dream to work with! This kitchen required some vision, and with two design-minded clients, our team worked with them to transform this dated space into a bright and fresh oasis.
Before The Renovation:
A Dated Ceiling
While there was a good amount of space in the kitchen, the fluorescent tile lighting overhead brought the height of the ceiling down, and really didn’t add any light to the room.
A Closed Kitchen
The kitchen space had great bones, but this client wanted a more open-concept living space where they could entertain and still be in the kitchen. The wall separating the kitchen and the living room was removed, and the shelving extended to make up for the lost cabinetry space.
Our Renovation Process
Wall Removal
Once the wall was removed, our team was able to extend the shelving in lieu of the two doorways that were present before the wall was taken down.
Cabinetry & Island Construction
For cabinetry, our team chose shaker-style cabinets and gold hardware to bring out the beautiful Newburyport Blue by Benjamin Moore colour of the island. We paired this pop of colour with marble and black countertops, and white cabinetry for the rest of the kitchen space. The combination of colours, as seen in the photos after the renovation, brings a modern design sense to the project while still keeping things warm and inviting.
Appliances & Hardware
In keeping with the theme of “Eclectic charm” gold hardware and silver appliances were chosen for this space. In order to bring together the silver and gold, a more yellow-chrome was chosen for the light fixtures (pictured below).
After The Renovation
The Perfect Entertaining Space
The most important thing for this couple was to be able to entertain easily from their kitchen. By making the island the focal point of the living and dining area, these home chefs have the space and flow to meet all of their entertaining needs.
Ample Storage Space
For this space, our client wanted mostly closed shelving. Each of these drawers is equipped with pull-out drawers to make storage and organization a breeze.
Functionally Beautiful Appliance
An electric range with a matching exhaust functions as a statement piece for this space.
Special Features
One of the best additions to an entertaining space? A wine fridge. Having a space where you can store drinks makes sure everything is the right temperature, and also stops guests from going into your refrigerator.
All of the attention to detail that went into this renovation created a beautiful and unique space that our clients love. We couldn’t be happier with the final results!
