Adirondak Trail

About This Project

The original kitchen had espresso cabinetry that didn’t go to the ceiling, a peninsula that cut off the space and orange granite countertops which made the space feel heavy, dark, cramped and did not function well for this busy family. By removing the peninsula and grouping built in professional style appliances on the tall pantry wall – we made space for a large eat-in island. Chantilly Lace cabinetry extending to the 9ft ceilings draw the eye upwards while a Wrought Iron island grounds the space in the centre of the room. The servery area is great for additional storage and helps the space transition to the dining room for entertaining. Door match columns on the island create a nook for stools and give the island more visual weight to balance its size. Updating cabinetry in the powder room and laundry room on the main floor to match the kitchen cabinetry was a great way to create continuity. The new space is bright, inviting and great for both entertaining and day-to-day family living.
